Hays named 'Best Workplace for Women™' in Greater China 2019 by Great Place to Work®

Hays Greater China was awarded the titles of “Best Workplace for Women™” and as one of the ‘Best Workplaces™ in Greater China 2019’ by Great Place to Work®, a global authority on workplace culture, in Shanghai last night.

Hays is the only recruitment firm in Greater China to be awarded the Best Workplace for Women 2019 title at the annual awards ceremony that honours organisations that have built high-performing cultures where employees trust their leaders, are proud of what they do, and enjoy the people they work with.

The announcement marks a significant achievement for the specialist recruitment firm, as Best Workplaces for Women is a new accreditation standard which recognizes top organisations that, while providing a great work environment to all employees, are also creating positive and supportive workplaces for women in particular. Qualifying criteria for this achievement include developing and promoting practices that make sure women have a fair and positive work experience, the opportunity to contribute to the success of the business, and the ability to consistently develop both personally and professionally.

Speaking on the new title, Global CEO of Great Place to Work® Micheal C. Bush said, “Fair hiring, pay and benefits are just the table stakes for retaining talented people. The Best Workplaces for Women stand above competitors by creating trustworthy organisations that eliminate gaps in employees’ day-to-day experience. You can see the results in healthy, dedicated teams where all co-workers thrive.”

Hays was also named one of the ‘Best Workplaces™ in Greater China 2019’, a high-profile list that forms a trust barometer for business leaders, academics and media in the region. Two-thirds of every organisation’s score is based on the outcomes of the Trust Index© Survey taken by its employees, while one-third is informed by Great Place to Work®’s independent audit of the organisation’s philosophy on leadership and its people practices. This year, 44 out of 150 companies across China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan made it to the list. All selected organisations have a clear majority of their employees considering them to be great workplaces.

Speaking on these results, Dean Stallard, Managing Director of Hays Greater Bay Area commented, “We are delighted to have won the Great Place to Work® award, and particularly the title of ‘Best Workplace for Women’ in Greater China. Diversity & Inclusion has always been an integral part of the Hays values and philosophy and ‘equal opportunity for all’ is an objective we take very seriously. It is heartening to know our initiatives have made an impact on our workforce, and we aim to further support our employees through newer initiatives like Flex@Hays, which is designed to empower employees to fulfil their work and life goals through a variety of flexible working and leave options. We will also continue established engagement practices such as Your Voice, our annual employee engagement survey that keeps us in tune with the needs and opinions of our staff.”

“Our exceptional growth in this region over the last year comes down to our fantastic team of highly motivated and driven employees who help form our ‘awesome’ culture and make Hays a great place to work. Our motto for this year is ‘Exceed Your Expectations’ and with this award, we may have already achieved this!”
