Your new role
This position is accountable for providing support to standalone infrastructures that are physically located in China. The role requires that the candidate will need to be collocated with the Senior Technology manager who is operating out of Hong Kong. The infrastructure configuration items include stand-alone PCs, encryption devices, etc., as required by regulators for connections to their web services / applications. The maintenance activities will include OS upgrades, security patching, enhancements patching, and other network driven changes. The role also includes managing the applications that are hosted on these hardware platforms. The job function is very crucial to the firm as it poses regulatory risk in case the applications are not functional during working hours, which will hinder the ability of the Global Compliance and Operational Risk team to fulfil regulatory requirements.
This position provides 5 days a week, 8 hours a day support for technical questions and procedural enquiries.
Monitors the health of the hardware platforms and the applications hosted on them.
Problem resolution must be organised and prioritised based on problem criticality and impact on business.
Evaluate alternatives and, utilising all available resources, effect correct resolutions in the quickest and safest manner.
Discuss problems and issues encountered during the day, including root cause analysis and applied fixes with the Senior Technology Manager who has the overall responsibility of the program.
Ensure that all previously resolved problems have been documented with any required follow-up activities and/or recommendations to avoid and reduce problems in the future.
What you'll need to succeed
4–8 years of industry experience with Web Application Support and Desktop Support is mandatory for the role.
Experience designing and engineering technology, in particular involvement with application infrastructure and tools/technologies: Java, .NET, Citrix, WebLogic, Tomcat, Oracle EXADATA, SQL Server, Windows, networking configurations.
Experience leading a technical subject area within a significant transformation program through to successful delivery.
Experience in supporting project delivery involving both in-house and third-party design, development, testing and project management
Good understanding and experience with building, integrating and deploying enterprise applications
Able to document and communicate at all degrees, from low level technical detail to high level executive overviews and to assess the comparative appropriateness of a given type of audience
The ability to work in a matrixed environment with minimal supervision and collaborative skills is a must.
Fluency in English and Mandarin is mandatory.
