We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic sustainability professional for a leadership role in an innovative and forward-thinking precious gems manufacturer. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the group's sustainability strategy, collaborating with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and strategic partners to drive effective community engagement, and building internal capacity for the identification, assessment, and mitigation of sustainability issues.

- Develop and implement/supervise the group's Sustainability Strategy considering the group's business strategy, stakeholder expectations, regional/local policy initiatives, etc.
- Work with internal stakeholders (e.g., Production, Operations, HR, Brand) and external advisors/stakeholders to derive action plans and KPIs and regularly monitor the progress and impact of programs based on the sustainability strategy
- Develop strategic partnerships and collaborate with key teams to drive effective community engagement across the BUs, with targeted progressive NGOs, value chain players, etc.
- Assist in building internal capacity for identification, impact assessment, and mitigation of sustainability issues.
- Ensure Brand and Senior Management communications are aligned with the sustainability agenda.
- Track annual expenses related to environmental efforts, and report at the end of each fiscal year.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Governance team on sustainability compliance and governance-related issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or above qualifications in sustainability, environmental, social studies, engineering, and science-related fields.
- At least 15 years of industry experience, ideally in corporate sustainability leadership and consulting roles.
- Profound and updated knowledge of environmental processes and sustainability.
- The ability to define, communicate and set a direction for the department strategy and motivate the team.
- Experience with social sustainability outcomes related to external rating agencies and benchmarking indices (GRESB, DJSI, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics) as well as Corporate Reporting Frameworks preferred (IRC, TCFD, GRI, and ISSB).
- Team leadership and people management skills are necessary.
- Fluency in Chinese language skills with the ability to communicate with factory and production staff all the way to government officials.
