Our client is a well-established international banking group with a strong presence in Hong Kong, offering a full suite of corporate, commercial, and private banking services. The platform supports a broad range of financial activities across lending, capital markets, treasury, and cross-border transactions, and works closely with regional and global stakeholders.


Your new role
  • Providing contextual legal advice on a broad range of matters to business divisions and functions of the Bank;
  • Maintaining legal oversight through attending various product approval meetings and participating in strategic business decisions;
  • Driving deal negotiations and dispute settlement on behalf of the Bank;
  • Reviewing legal documents for designated banking products and services;
  • Liaising with external legal counsel and overseeing project implementation;
  • Working with the Head of Legal to implement the policies, procedures, and standards imposed by the Legal Department of the Head Office; and
  • Assisting the Head of Legal to perform his/her duties and dealing with projects or tasks from time to time being assigned, including but not limited to supervising and coaching junior lawyers and paralegals in the team.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Degree holder or equivalent qualification in law and admitted as a solicitor of the HKSAR or other acceptable jurisdictions;
  • Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience gained in a reputable law firm or a comparable financial institution;
  • Conversant with HKSAR legal and regulatory requirements of the banking industry;
  • Strong knowledge in HKSAR banking operations as well as banking products and services;
  • Strategic minded with good business acumen;
  • Pragmatic with strong drives for results;
  • The ability to work independently and experience in supervising staff is preferable;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and relate at all levels of the Bank; and
  • Fluent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
