Our client is a world-leading technology company and has one of the most comprehensive suites of financial products and services. Their mission is to grow the digital asset industry as they believe that it represents the future of finance. With the new regulations coming into play globally, my client is now expanding their regulatory team and is actively looking for experienced professionals to join their team.
Your Role
- You will be an important member of our team of regulatory and licencing lawyers.
- You and your team will handle ongoing licencing and financial regulatory matters globally.
- You will also be responsible for addressing regulatory risk within the company and introducing and implementing measures to mitigate and reduce such risk.
- You will assist with the legal team’s efforts in regulatory and licencing matters, including advising on crypto/financial licencing, product launches (including terms and conditions), regulatory compliance and ongoing risk assessment work encountered by the company and internal stakeholders.
- You may represent the legal team before internal stakeholders to provide robust, commercially sensible, accurate and practical advice and to manage their expectations throughout the life of the matter.
- Support the Compliance team in their efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, including legal analysis on sanctions, AML and other risks.
- Assisting the legal work of the wider team, including regulatory advice on commercial matters and drafting and reviewing licencing documents, responses to investigations and marketing materials.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 3 to 9 years of financial regulatory experience. Senior candidates may be considered for Senior Counsel.
- Experience from a reputable global law firm (common law jurisdiction) and a reputable in-house organisation is a must. Prior experience within a regulatory body is highly valued.
- Experience and knowledge of financial products (including spot trading, copy trading, margins, derivatives and options) and commercial transactions are essential.
- A track-record of working on licencing and regulatory matters for traditional financial institutions and cryptocurrency organisations is highly preferred, including interactions with the likes of the FCA, VARA, AMF, MAS, HK SFC and others.
- Knowledge of the latest policy and rules from standard-setting bodies such as IOSCO, the European Union, and central banks.
- Regulatory experience, including regulatory investigations, requests for information, sanctions work, AML compliance and corporate governance work is highly valued.
- Has the ability to work independently and make tough decisions
- Hands-on at work and can be independent in managing complex projects.
- Excellent legal drafting and interpretation skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese
