Our client is a leading global technology, media, and telecommunications company with a strong presence in Hong Kong. They are committed to driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions to their clients worldwide. As they continue to expand our operations, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Counsel to join their legal team.

As the General Counsel (TMT), you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal advice and guidance to the business. You will oversee all legal matters pertaining to TMT operations, ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for managing a team of lawyers and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support the company's growth initiatives.

Your new role

• Provide expert legal advice and guidance on TMT-related matters, including technology contracts, data privacy, intellectual property, licensing agreements, and regulatory compliance.

• Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

• Review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including joint ventures, partnerships, and service agreements.

• Manage and supervise a team of lawyers, providing leadership, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative environment.

• Conduct legal research and stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging legal issues affecting the TMT sector.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management and cross-functional teams, to provide proactive legal support and advice.

• Handle dispute resolution and manage external legal counsel when required.

What you'll need to succeed

• Hong Kong qualified lawyer with a minimum of 15 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.

• Extensive experience in TMT-related legal matters, including technology contracts, data privacy, intellectual property, licensing agreements, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong laws and regulations, as well as international legal frameworks relevant to the TMT industry.

• Proven track record of managing a legal team and providing strategic legal advice to senior management and stakeholders.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to align legal strategies with the company's overall objectives.

• Fluency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken).
