Our client, established and wholly owned by the Hong Kong SAR Government, supported by the Health Bureau, works in close collaboration with the Department of Health, Hospital Authority, medical schools of local universities and other stakeholders to accelerate the development of genomic medicine in Hong Kong

They are dedicated to hire a highly motivated Bioinformatician to join the laboratory team, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

Your new role

• Set up and maintain computing platforms for bioinformatics pipelines
• Manage data of genomic scales and conduct bioinformatics analysis
• Manage and improve bioinformatics pipelines under the HKGP and ensure their quality
• Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics or related disciplines
• Proficiency in working in Unix/Linux environment
• Familiarity with source code management systems (e.g., Git)
• Familiarity with open source Linux tools
• Experience with processing bioinformatics data
• Fluency in Linux command line and writing shell scripts
• Experience in HPC (High Performance Computing) clusters and use of job schedulers (e.g. Slurm, TORQUE, SGE, PBS) on HPC clusters
• Knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Service) platform
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and NFS
• Exposure to WDL (Workflow Description Language) or NextFlow
