Our client is an EU leading Sourcing Office; they are looking for a dynamic and experienced buyer to join their office in Hong Kong. The dedicated team is at the forefront of developing and sourcing automotive components that meet the dynamic needs of their customers.
Your new role
- Purchasing of direct material (components integrated in combustion engines) in a defined commodity.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while continuously seeking new potential suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and compliance; take corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct market research to identify pricing trends and new product availability.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, including prices, timelines, and quality standards.
- Independent price negotiations according to target prices of material and tooling, and communicate with internal colleagues to make sure projects go smoothly
- Ensure that procurement timelines, RFQ process, align with project milestones and production schedules.
- Responsible for managing the whole process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of automotive parts and materials, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics/Supply chain management or related degree
- Minimum 5 years of technical experience in sourcing, buying or procurement, ideally in the automotive or aviation industry
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
