A European bank is looking for a Team Head to join its Payment Operations & Remittance Team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the cash management and payment division, ensuring that all inward/outward remittances and local/global payment transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

The role also involves project management, system enhancements, data migration, and regulatory initiatives such as ISO 20022.

Your new role

• Lead a team of eight in executing daily cash management operations, including local and global payment processing, inward and outward remittances, time deposits, day-end reconciliation, and transaction investigations. Ensure efficient and optimal payment execution via SWIFT, RTGS, CHATS, and FPS.

• Perform day-end reconciliation and monitor outstanding items, payments, and cash positions with correspondent banks and service providers, maintaining accurate records and resolving discrepancies promptly, as well as bank/ audit confirmation.

• Collaborate closely with regional operations centres to align payment processes and provide seamless support to Asia-based clients as part of a unified regional team.

• Drive and coordinate global banking system projects and regulatory changes, including ISO 20022 migration, HKICL initiatives, and the development of new services and processes. Lead automation efforts, streamline workflows, and oversee system enhancements and UAT to boost operational efficiency.

• Manage and oversee strategic projects and initiatives, working cross-functionally and engaging internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and successful delivery.

• Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans in line with organisational objectives, fostering innovation, enhancing efficiency, and supporting sustainable growth while mitigating risks and optimising resource allocation.

• Lead and mentor a team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to maximise performance, cultivate a collaborative culture, and promote employee engagement and retention.

What you'll need to succeed

• A university degree is required.

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in payment operations, remittance and project management within the financial services industry.

• Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and implementing strategic initiatives.

• A strong team player with excellent communication skills.

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is necessary.
