My client is seeking a seasoned legal professional to lead and manage legal matters related to global online gambling operations. This role will be based in Hong Kong and will support cross-border regulatory compliance, licencing, commercial transactions, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in online gaming laws, digital platforms, and international gambling regulations.
Your Role
- Provides strategic legal advice on global online gambling regulations, including licencing, advertising, and operational compliance.
- Lead legal risk assessments and ensure compliance with laws in key markets such as the UK, EU, Australia, Macau, and emerging jurisdictions.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with technology providers, affiliates, payment processors, and platform partners.
- Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and anti-money laundering (AML) issues related to online gambling platforms.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments in online gaming and gambling law globally.
- Liaise with regulators, external counsel, and internal stakeholders to manage legal enquiries and audits.
- Support dispute resolution and enforcement actions, including debt recovery and IP protection.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and compliance teams to ensure legal alignment in platform development and user engagement.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor in Hong Kong or a common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience, with a strong focus on gambling, technology law, or regulatory compliance.
- Prior in-house experience with an online gaming operator, tech company, or international law firm.
- Proven experience in online gambling or gaming law, ideally with exposure to multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, fintech, and e-commerce legal frameworks.
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Fluency in English, Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus.
