Our client is a regional bank based in Hong Kong that is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail and Commercial Banking lawyer to join their team. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice and support to their business operations whilst leading a small team.
Your new role
- Provide expert legal advice and support to our retail and commercial banking operations.
- Draft and review legal documents, including loan agreements, security documents, and other contracts.
- Advise on regulatory matters related to retail and commercial banking operations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various banking laws and regulations.
- Manage external legal counsel and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments within the organisation to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Participate in negotiations with customers, vendors, and other parties as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to junior legal team members.
- Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 10+ years of experience as a lawyer, with significant experience in retail and commercial banking law
- Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating retail and commercial banking agreements and other legal documents.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations and industry practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of legal professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions to complex legal issues.
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is essential.
