Our client, a Hong Kong Listed Life Sciences company engaged in the business of research and development, manufacturing, commercialisation, marketing, sale of, and investment in, products and assets which fall into three core categories - nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals and agriculture-related. They are dedicated to hire a Preclinical Development Director for their new innovative research & NGS projects. We are open for relocation from overseas candidates.

This position is now required as a result of business growth, the person will direct reporting to Head of R&D. They are looking for a senior scientific professional who is currently involved in drug discovery R&D activities.

Your new role

• Manage multiple discovery/preclinical development projects, and facilitate their translation from Bench to Bedside;
• Oversee the development, coordination and management of discovery research programs and put new entities into the pipeline that can be further developed into therapeutics for commercialization;
• Support the planning and management of IND-enabling studies necessary for IND regulatory submission, in conjunction with internal colleagues and external consultants/CROs;
• Establish and manage project timelines and critical path activities;
• Identify, negotiate and manage CRO service providers;
• Work with CROs to draft and review discovery/preclinical study protocols and study reports;
• Coordinate, draft and review summary reports and tabulations supporting regulatory submissions;
• Draft grant applications to funding agencies to procure additional funding to support R&D projects;
• Establish and maintain good communication with academic institutions in Hong Kong and Overseas;
• Drive the publication of study data in scientific journals and at scientific meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

• PhD in Biology or a relevant R&D-related program, and with more than 12 years’ experience within a biotech/pharmaceutical or academic program setup;
• At least 8 years’ experience in oncology drug development and/or cancer immunology;
• A track record of accomplishments in R&D with products that have progressed towards commercialization;
• Familiarity with in vitro and in vivo models for testing drug efficacy and safety;
• Familiarity and experience with common laboratory equipment and methods;
• Candidates who hold a license to conduct animal experiments will have an advantage;
• Self-starting and team-oriented characteristics with complex problem-solving ability and excellent influencing skills;
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects;

• Previous interactions with regulatory agencies to discuss projects (e.g., Pre-IND meetings) is preferred;
• Broad experience across different functions related to drug development process (e.g. CMC, preclinical, clinical, regulatory affairs) is advantageous;
• Experience with due diligence of in-licensing opportunities is a plus
• Foreign work experience and/or experience collaborating with overseas partners is desirable;
• Good communication skills (English/Chinese).
