Your new company

Our client is a regional bank based in Hong Kong that is seeking a highly motivated and talented lawyer to join their team as a Legal Manager. The successful candidate will provide legal support to our commercial banking business, which serves small and medium-sized businesses with a range of financial products and services.

Your new role

• Review, draft, and negotiate legal documents, including loan agreements, security documents, and other legal agreements related to commercial banking transactions.
• Assist in advising on regulatory compliance matters, including federal and state banking laws and regulations.
• Work closely with other members of the legal team, as well as business units, risk management, and compliance teams, to identify and manage legal risks associated with commercial banking activities.
• Provide legal support for new product development and business initiatives, including advising on legal and regulatory requirements and risks.
• Assist in managing external counsel as needed.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 1-3 years of post-qualification experience with a strong interest in commercial banking and financial services.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions to complex legal issues.
• Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is essential.
• Experience in a financial institution or law firm is a plus.
