Your new company

Our client is a regional bank based in Hong Kong that is seeking a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to join their legal team as a Private Banking Lawyer. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice and support to their private banking business, which offers a range of financial products and services to high-net-worth individuals and families.

Your new role

• Provide legal advice and support to the private banking business on a wide range of matters, including lending, wealth management, trust and estate planning, structured products and regulatory compliance.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including loan agreements, security documents, and other legal agreements related to private banking transactions.
• Work closely with other members of the legal team, as well as business units, risk management, and compliance teams, to identify and manage legal risks associated with private banking activities.
• Provide legal support for new product development and business initiatives, including advising on legal and regulatory requirements and risks.
• Manage external counsel as needed.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 6+ years of experience as a lawyer, with significant experience in private banking and/or wealth management.
• Strong business acumen and ability to work collaboratively with business partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions to complex legal issues.
• Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is essential.
• Experience in a financial institution is a plus.
