Hotspots
Employers are investing in activities to strengthen, up skill and retain their existing staff. The majority of companies are looking to establish the right platform in order to then grow their teams in the second half of 2010. As a result there has been an increase in learning and development roles. Training professionals with relevant industry experience are also in high demand.
Also of interest are those candidates with a specialist business area background that could take on a more leadership and training role to share their expertise across different teams.
Coming quarter
As businesses become more confident in their growth plans for the remainder of 2010 there will be an increase in new hires. There is also likely to be a number of replacement hires as candidates also become more confident about the job market and seek a change.
Employer trends
Employers are still quite reserved when it comes to salary packages. They will pass on a candidate if they feel their package is too high and continue their search of the market as there is a wealth of excellent candidates seeking a new challenge. They are also open to candidates from across Asia Pacific.
Recruitment timeframes continue to improve, however it can still take up to three months for a hire to be completed and longer for senior positions.
Candidate trends
There are less immediately available candidates in the market as most have either returned to the workplace after an extended break or they have chosen to further their studies.
