The increasing number of manufacturing plants opening in China is creating demand in this sector, particularly for Mechanical Engineers.
Discipline Engineers with pharmaceutical project knowledge are also highly sought after by the many pharmaceutical companies relocating their headquarters to Shanghai.
The majority of employers are looking for Chinese speaking candidates, in particular returning Chinese Nationals with overseas experience.
Coming quarter
A number of pharmaceutical and automobile companies are in the process of relocating their Chinese headquarters to Shanghai. As a result there will be demand for Engineers from all disciplines to assist in the design and construction of commercial and industrial projects from next quarter onwards.
Employer trends
More companies are streamlining recruitment through their internal HR teams. Apart from senior level appointments this trend will continue at least until new projects create a significant increase in demand.
Candidate trends
Bilingual candidates are in high demand and are seeking long term career progression with companies.
