Hays Sales & Marketing - January 2010
Hotspots
Senior Director/VP-level merchandising and sourcing candidates are in high demand in South China, while Client Services and E-commerce candidates are sought in Hong Kong. The FMCG, retail, online trade and insurance sectors remain active.
Marketing vacancy activity centres upon Research Analysts, Data Mining and Consumer Behaviour Managers. Candidates require an analytical approach to marketing campaigns.
The coming quarter
Sales and marketing recruitment is slowly gathering momentum and indications suggest a solid quarter of jobs activity ahead. Jobs are starting to become available on a slightly more regular basis. Several companies are now looking at re-establishing teams that were dismantled over the last 12 months.
Executive recruitment
Merchandising and sourcing is driving executive demand as retail continues to grow in both China and Hong Kong. Senior Investor Relations candidates are also sought as several large organisations begin to establish IPO's.
Salaries
Salaries are starting to increase slightly as companies become aware that the market is turning and candidates are not as flexible in their salary expectations as they once were.
Candidate trends
While the 'wait and see' attitude is still prevalent, as activity increases in the finance industry, confidence is beginning to return.
