Hotspots

Candidates with finance sector experience in front office risk analysis are the prime hotspot of employer demand at present. Banks want to be aware of their exposure to risk. As a direct result of the GFC, technology issues affecting treasury, risk management and finance have been the focus of the IT sector.

IT Sales Managers are also sought. Financial vendors are recruiting these skills to capitalise on the slight upturn in economic conditions.

The coming quarter

Continued signs of economic improvement in the finance technology sector, as well as positive feedback from HR and line managers, suggest ongoing vacancy activity for the quarter.

Executive recruitment

The number of senior vacancies has recently increased. This includes roles for IT Directors, Equities RTB Lead and Lead Business Analysts. We expect this to continue as the economy improves. In fact, more senior and executive roles will be created as banks strengthen their teams, projects come back on-line and organic movement takes place.

Headcount reductions have given some candidates the opportunity of promotion into a senior role, so good career opportunities are currently available for the right candidates.

Salaries

We expect salaries to remain stable this quarter, but the expected increase in vacancy activity should see some increase in the following quarter.
