Within advertising, the digital sector needs Senior Account Directors and Group Account Directors in response to the trend towards E-commerce and CRM.
Given the demand for these skills, employers are flexible and willing to look at candidates capable of learning the skills quickly.
The coming quarter
We expect an increase in retail marketing and business development roles this quarter. While advertising vacancies will be available, we expect few media roles to exist.
Employer trends
Retail employers are realising that the market is candidate-short. They are thus becoming more flexible in their requirements and the salary they offer. Within the advertising/media sector, there have been few changes to salaries but employers are more flexible in their requirements.
Candidate trends
Candidates that were risk-averse and decided not to change jobs in 2009 are eagerly awaiting the arrival of March. Candidates are confident that they can move after Chinese New Year.
