HR – IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU
Companies that slashed their human resource teams in response to the downturn should now be considering their future needs, says a leading recruitment firm.
Emma Charnock, Regional Director of Hays in Hong Kong, comments: “Human resource teams were downsized significantly during the downturn. As the economy begins to improve, businesses will be working hard to bring new talent back into the company.
“Competition for the most talented and qualified staff is always high. Unless they are prepared, some may find that they are on the back foot and unable to cope with an increase in business,” says Charnock.
While attracting the best talent will be a critical success factor in the coming months, employee training and retention is an important long-term consideration.
“Talent Management is a busy area at the moment. Large international companies in particular are focused on implementing programs to attract the right talent. Just as critical however is their investment in staff in order to hold on to them so those with experience in training and development are in high demand.
Change management is another busy area: “Developing and implementing new HR strategies and procedures are business critical as companies aim to cope with rapidly changing market conditions.
“Ultimately, employers want to ensure the right processes are in place to sustain the right framework for the future,” concludes Charnock.
