AN EXCITING TIME TO WORK IN CHINA

Leading recruiter Hays says the market is starting to bounce back from the roller coaster ride of the last year. In order to prepare for the turn, they are currently looking to grow their recruitment teams in Shanghai and Beijing.

“China has undergone immense economic and social development over the last 25 years and is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies,” says Emma Charnock, Regional Director of Hays in China and Hong Kong.

“The market still has battles to face and it will take time for improved sentiment to translate into improved vacancy activity. Employers are however beginning to look more positively towards recruitment activity and it is therefore important to preparing ourselves for the imminent turn.

“We are looking for people with strong sales drive, exceptional communication and influencing skills, the ability to communicate in both Mandarin and English and two years commercial experience.

“Previous recruitment experience isn’t necessary as we provide industry-leading training and development – but those with previous recruitment experience should also contact us,” says Charnock.

The company is also looking further than the local market, hoping to attract Mandarin speakers living in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong who wish to return home to mainland China.

“This is an exciting time to work in the recruitment business, especially in China. For those who would consider a move, this is an opportunity to experience first-hand the scale and speed of the transformation of the Chinese economy. Some have even termed it a second industrial revolution,” concludes Charnock.
