OUTSOURCING EFFICIENCY DRIVE
In this current economic climate, businesses are on an efficiency drive and many are evaluating the job functions they currently outsource, according to specialist recruiter Hays.
“The move to make business more efficient has seen some employers move away from outsourcing certain job functions to reduce their external costs,” says Emma Charnock, Regional Director of Hays Hong Kong and China.
“Certainly there have been a number of instances where jobs have been moved in-house that were previously outsourced to external firms or agencies.
“Accountancy is an obvious example of the corporate sector reviewing its use of outsourcing, and as a result job opportunities have increased for financial controllers, internal auditors and within risk and compliance.
“Yet for some other businesses where resources are minimal or already stretched, outsourcing remains the more cost-efficient option.”
This is not the only trend to emerge as a cost-saving measure though. “Vacancies for those with a commercial focus, such as business analysts, management and cost accountants and sales and pricing analysts, are rising to ensure business is conducted in the most effective way,” Emma said.
“In fact, any candidate that can add-value to an organisation by increasing efficiencies and streamlining processes to reduce costs and increase revenue is a hot commodity at present.”
